As tomorrow marks the start of the Hawaiian Summertime Weekend Bash, and the end to the year, we just wanted to take the time to look back at some of the memories that made this year great.

To start it off we’ve gotta go with Opening Day 2017. Opening day was again all about the locals and the Blue Mountain community. After months of being apart its always great to see everyone again and catch up. It was incredibly special this year as Vincent Blue Jr. the son of our founder himself joined in on the first run at the youthful age of 97. Even though he’s a great grandfather now, he still knows how to shred those slopes.

Christmas was great as usual, but it was New Years that really got interesting. I think we can all say that blizzard came out of nowhere. Luckily by that time on New Years Eve everyone had gotten to the resort. And thank God for that back up generator that we had gotten literally that Tuesday before. It’s not often that the power goes out at Blue Mountain, but we guess with over a foot of snow that can happen.

Now St. Patrick’s Day was a blast. The Leprechaun Jump challenge was a huge success this year, and we loved the inclusion of the intense black difficulty this year. Only a dozen people were able to beat it, yet from all the feedback we got from it, everyone had a blast attempting it. And how could we not talk about the Guinness Run and Rick Rambis. Never have we seen a rider come in last and yet win in all. We can’t wait to see what he does next year.

Honestly there are so many great memories, from Go For Broke day, to hosting a golf course on the mountain, as well as the brand new Crazy Cardboard Races. And we can’t forget about all the great athletes that joined us as well like Chloe Kim and Mikaela Shiffrin. Overall though what truly made this a great year was our community. We have to say thank you for being a part of the Blue Mountain family, the events are great, but so to are the special moments of just getting to know everyone within our community on a daily basis. It’s these interactions and memories that have created that special culture here at Blue Mountain, that other resorts don’t have. So again, from Blue Mountain to you, Thank You.
