Aw What a Day

St. Patrick’s Day was a blast here yesterday with such a great turnout. We want to thank each and every one of you that came out and celebrated with us. There were so many great moments yesterday that we just wanted to share a few with you.

An unplanned snowball fight turned into an all-out snowball war. It all started when two Leprechaun’s crossed paths and a few choice words were spoken. When one tried to turn and walk away the other throw the first blow with a ball to the back of the head. After a bit of recruitment by both sides there was nearly fifty people were going at it, just behind Blue Mountain Lodge. The war ended friendly thankfully with both Leprechaun’s shaking hands and grabbing a drink together at the Flying Brick Tavern.
We might have a treasure hunter in the making as it was little Timmy who found the Pot of Gold. We were getting worried that the Leprechaun had done too good of a job hiding his treasure, but after hours of searching it was finally found.

We were also worried that we had made the black difficulty too hard but just after 4:30 we had our first winners. Sister duo Amanda and Sam were the first to conquer the challenge. Technically it was the older sister Amanda that was the first to accomplish the feat, but she wanted to share the glory with her younger sister who also succeeded moments after her. Amanda and Sam opened the door and nearly a dozen more were able to defeat the intense difficulty by the end of the day.

As it has been for years the Guinness Run was the cherry on the top to finish out the day. This year saw over twenty-five racers for the midnight race, with six new participants this year. All eyes were on reigning camp Rick Rambis to see if he could repeat, so when the starter gun fired everyone was surprised when he just stood there at the starting line drinking his beer. Everyone else went crashing down the mountain, and I mean crashing. Cheating is allowed for the Guinness Run and cheating is what we got. Pushing and shoving galore caused racers to lose their mugs, skiers used their polls to trip left and right. Somehow when everyone finally finished the race no one had any beer left in their mug. That is until Rick nonchalantly came down the mountain finishing the race last, yet still having half his beer left winning him the race. It was a crazy ending to a great day.
